As part of the UN’s 79th General Assembly, Shaping Our World Together, will take center stage, featuring the artwork Large Nature Model: Coral created by world-famous media artist Refik Anadol. Using the world’s first open-source generative model focused on nature, developed by Refik Anadol Studio, Large Nature Model: Coral draws from a vast collection of images to immerse viewers in a unique visual experience, capturing both the beauty and fragility of our planet’s marine ecosystems.

This immersive piece shows the fragility of coral reefs—often referred to as the “rainforests of the ocean”—which are rapidly dying due to climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Coral reefs, which support 25% of marine life, could face near extinction by the end of this century, making this work a timely and urgent call to action.

About Refik Anadol
Refik Anadol (b. 1985, Istanbul, Turkey) is an internationally renowned media artist, director, and pioneer in the aesthetics of data and machine intelligence. He is the co-founder of Refik Anadol Studio in Los Angeles and teaches at UCLA’s Department of Design Media Arts. Anadol’s work explores creativity at the intersection of humans and machines, using data through machine learning algorithms to create site-specific data paintings, sculptures, live performances, and immersive installations. His work has been exhibited in venues such as MoMA, Centre Pompidou-Metz, Serpentine Galleries, National Gallery of Victoria, Venice Architecture Biennale, and more.
